Abstract

The ability to recognize letters is part of a child's language development, namely the ability to recognize letter symbols and recognize the initial letters on an object. This study aims to help deal with difficulties in recognizing letters and stimulate the ability to increase the vocabulary of low grade students at SD Negeri Weru 1. The subjects of this study were low grade students who had not memorized letters, namely 6 grade 1 students, 11 grade 2 students and 6 grade students 4 with a total of 23 students. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation and documentation. This study presents a description of the letter recognition process for low grade students at SD Negeri Weru 1 using letter cards as media. With interesting media, children are able to name, show, and distinguish the letters a-z. The process of recognizing letters and words uses letter cards as media.
