Abstract

This study aims to describe how the application of the make a match learning model assisted by flashcard media in improving students' reading skills in class I. This research was conducted at SD N 120 / IV Jambi City. This research is a class action research (PTK) consisting of two cycles, the data taken is in the form of observation data through student and teacher activity observation sheets using the make a match learning model assisted by flashcard media, as well as oral tests of students' reading skills. This research was conducted with 4 stages, namely; planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the make a match learning model assisted by flashcard media can improve students' reading skills in class I SD N 120 / IV Jambi City. This can be seen from the results of the assessment of students' oral tests at pre-action, the average student reading ability is 50.8%. Experiencing an increase in cycle I, the average student reading ability was 58.4% at the first meeting with 32% student completeness and in cycle I, the second meeting, the average student reading ability was 56.6% with 36% student completeness. In cycle II the average student reading ability reached 71% at the first meeting with 72% student completeness and in cycle II the second meeting the average student reading ability was 81.8% with 84% student completeness. Based on the findings of the research results, it can be concluded that students' reading skills improved in each cycle.
