Abstract

This study used the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) methodology to enhance students' reading comprehension abilities in Indonesian language learning in sixth grade at SD Negeri Brosot Kapanewon Galur in the Kulon Progo district. Student disengagement and disinterest in their education continue to be the root causes of poor reading comprehension, according to observational data. This study exemplifies classroom action research (PTK) in which students and teachers work together. A two-cycle study design necessitated several adjustments to the research model. Research consists of four steps: preparation, execution, evaluation, and analysis. Two sixth graders participated in the study. The research object used in this study was the usefulness of reading comprehension abilities as they were taught using the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) learning methodology. Data is gathered via the use of tests and observations. The three main approaches to data analysis are qualitative, quantitative, and descriptive. This study's results demonstrate how the CIRC learning paradigm, when applied to the study of Indonesian, may enhance students' reading comprehension abilities. Beginning at 56% in the pre-cycle, 74% in the first cycle, and 95% in the second cycle, the proportion of students who achieved the KKM based on reading comprehension performance grew.
