IMPLEMENTASI PENDEKATAN TARL DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN LITERASI MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS IV SDN 066044 MEDAN HELVETIA

This research aims to improve the reading comprehension literacy skills of class IV students at SDN 066044 Medan Helvetia through the application of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of two cycles with stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research subjects were 21 fourth grade students, while the research object was the ability to read and understand descriptive text material. Data was collected through written tests, observation and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed a significant increase in students' reading comprehension abilities. In cycle I, as many as 48% of students achieved good criteria, while in cycle II this increased to 76% of students who achieved learning mastery with good to very good criteria. Implementing the TaRL approach allows teachers to group students according to their ability level, provide texts that suit their cognitive level, and guide students in understanding the material effectively. Thus, the implementation of the TaRL approach has proven to be effective in improving students' literacy and reading comprehension skills and can be used as an alternative learning approach in elementary schools. This research recommends widespread use of the TaRL approach to meet students' diverse learning needs.Downloads
