Abstract

The integration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) into primary school curricula has emerged as a key focus in educational research over the past five years. This literature review evaluates practices and research outcomes from 16 recent studies, encompassing 10 studies within national contexts and 6 studies from international settings. By examining recent publications, this review highlights the evolving dynamics of STEAM education and its impact on primary school learning. National studies reveal a significant increase in the implementation of STEAM approaches that are integrated with cultural contexts and local needs, showcasing various innovative methods that support the achievement of national educational goals. On the other hand, international studies offer insights into diverse methodologies and global trends in STEAM education, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of creativity. This review synthesizes findings from various studies to identify best practices that foster critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and innovation among primary school students. Additionally, it addresses the challenges and opportunities that arise in the implementation of STEAM programs across different educational systems. The overall analysis provides deep insights into the transformation of primary schools into innovation hubs, equipping students to face future challenges through a STEAM-based educational approach.
