Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the role of the family in instilling the disciplinary character of children from the family of female workers (TKW), which is reviewed from 1) the role of the family in instilling the disciplinary character of TKW children, 2) the method used by the family in instilling the disciplinary character of TKW children. 3) driving factors and challenges in instilling the disciplinary character of TKW children. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Research subjects and data analysis techniques are determined purposively are based on case study analysis models, including the upper stages of category collection, direct interpretation, pattern formation, and naturalistic generalization. The results show that (1) the role of the family in instilling the disciplinary character of TKW children through good figures, motivators, and supervisors; (2) methods used in cultivating discipline through habituation, example, regulation, punishment, and reward; and (3) Motivating factors in instilling children's disciplinary character based on awareness to educate without coercion, however, there are challenges in the form of busy parents who become substitute caregivers for TKW children so that there is a lack of time together and lack of supervision of children's activities.   Keywords: children of TKW family, discipline character, family role
