PENERAPAN MODEL PROBLEM BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERHITUNG PENJUMLAHAN DAN PENGURANGAN PADA SISWA KELAS I SEKOLAH DASAR

This research is based on the difficulties of first-grade students of Lowokwaru 2 elementary school Malang City in addition and subtraction arithmetic operations. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to operate arithmetic addition and subtraction using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model for first grade students at SDN Lowokwaru 2 Malang City. This type of research is classroom action research with a research design in the form of planning, action and observation, and reflection. This research consists of two cycles. The research subjects were first grade students at SDN Lowokwaru 2 Malang City. Data collection was carried out using tests and observations. The analytical method used is descriptive quantitative. Learning arithmetic operations using the PBL method requires students to enter into the given arithmetic operations problem. In PBL the problem of addition and subtraction arithmetic operations that will be given is a contextual or real problem. At the time the research showed that grade I students were enthusiastic in carrying out learning addition and subtraction arithmetic operations using the PBL method. The results showed that there was an increase in the learning outcomes of arithmetic operations using the PBL method. In the pre-test results, the class average percentage was 50% with less criteria, then increased in cycle I to 64% with sufficient criteria. In cycle II the class average increased to 84% and was in very good criteria. Based on this research it can be concluded that the ability to operate arithmetic addition and subtraction of class I students can be improved using the Problem Based Learning model.
