Abstract

This study aims to determine how the role of parents in developing children's disciplinary character in Brang Biji Village and the inhibiting supporting factors that influence the role of parents in developing children's disciplinary character. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of case study research. The data collection techniques used are interview, observation and documentation techniques. Informants in this study were determined based on various criteria. The collected data is analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results of this study include: the role of parents in developing children's disciplinary character by educating through providing understanding or direction about the rules that must be obeyed at home, school and community so that children's behavior does not cause deviant character. The supporting factor for the role of parents in developing children's disciplinary character is the form of parental concern for children through giving advice and providing an exemplary attitude. Factors inhibiting the role of parents in developing children's disciplinary character are lack of awareness of children, the influence of friends and the influence of technology. The results of this study can be concluded the role of parents in developing children's disciplinary character in Brang Biji Village that parents are aware of any changes in children's disciplinary behavior, therefore parents quickly take action by giving advice or reprimands to children so that children realize that there is something wrong or not in every behavior. In addition, parents provide an exemplary attitude to children so that they become a reference point for children in behaving in a pattern of discipline in daily life.
