Abstract

The study aims to describe the leadership of the Islamic principal from a transformative leadership perspective on the performance of classroom teachers in Islamic elementary schools. The method in this research is to use a qualitative approach with the case study method. The informants in this study were the head of the Madrasah and the teacher council of the Islamic elementary schools. Data collection techniques with observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques in this study used data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The technique of guaranteeing the validity of research data uses source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of this study found that the leadership style of the Madrasah head from a Transformative leadership perspective on the performance of class teachers at Islamic elementary schools implements a) idealized influence, namely clear instructions from the head of the madrasa given to the teacher council which is democratic and not coercive, b) inspirational motivation, namely the head of the madrasa gives the opportunity towards the teacher council expressing their opinions critically, c) Intellectual Stimulation, namely the head of the madrasa can make decisions appropriately in solving problems and decisions taken are acceptable to all members, and Individual Consideration, namely the head of the madrasa supervises the activities of the teacher even though he has given confidence to the teacher council.
