Abstract

Class II action research at SD Negeri Tingkir Tengah 02 which was based on the results of observations and interviews found problems where students still had difficulty in writing sentences, did not pay attention to the use of capital letters and periods at the end of sentences, the writing of words was still incomplete and untidy, and the sentences made were ineffective so that teachers did not understand the meaning of the writing. Only 33% (7 people) of students could make sentences. To overcome this problem, the researcher used the picture and picture learning model. The research method is Classroom Action Research. This research was carried out in 2 cycles with the stages of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research subjects were carried out in class II with 21 students. Data collection was carried out by interviews and observations of writing skills. The results obtained: Students' writing skills in cycle I; (1) Use of capital letters and punctuation with an average percentage of 61%; (2) Suitability of sentence content with pictures with an average percentage of 76%; (3) Writing words with an average percentage of 61%; (4) Sentences made effectively with an average percentage of 57%. In cycle II, observation of writing skills with the picture and picture model experienced changes and improvements, namely: 1) Use of capital letters and punctuation with an average percentage of 85%; (2) Suitability of sentence content with pictures with an average percentage of 100%; (3) Writing words with an average percentage of 90%; (4) Sentences made effectively with an average percentage of 80%. Based on the results that have been obtained, it can be said that the Picture and Picture learning model can be used as an alternative learning model that can be applied to improve sentence writing skills in class II of SDN Tingkir Tengah 02.
