Abstract

This research aims to describe students' difficulties in solving HOTS questions in social studies class V at SDN 1 Gapuk. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The subjects in this research were 29 class V students at SDN 1 Gapuk. Data collection techniques use documentations and interviews. The test instrument given was 8 questions describing HOTS-based social studies content. The data analysis used in this research is data analysis from Miles and Huberman which consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that there are difficulties experienced by students in solving HOTS questions, including students having difficulty understanding questions, difficulty analyzing questions, difficulty considering, and difficulty concentrating. To overcome students' difficulties in understanding questions, students are required to study actively, to overcome difficulties in analyzing story problems, namely to foster students' interest in questions that use story illustrations, to overcome students' difficulties in choosing the right answer, namely to train students to interpret and connect what is said. know from the questions, or what is instructed in the questions, and in overcoming students' difficulties in concentrating when working on questions by providing a break when they have finished studying and working on the questions.
