Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the picture and picture learning model assisted by puzzle media on the critical thinking abilities of class IV students at SDN 32 Cakranegara. This research is research with a quantitative approach that analyzes the effectiveness of variable x (picture and picture learning model assisted by puzzle media) on variable y (critical thinking skills). The research method used is the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design method. The subjects in this research were all class IV students at SDN 32 Cakranegra where class IVA was the control class with a total of 26 students while class IVB was an experimental class with a total of 30 students. The data collection techniques used in this research were tests and observation of the research instruments used. namely essay test question sheets (Pretest and Posttest) and observation sheets on the implementation of the picture and picture learning model assisted by puzzle media. The data analysis technique begins with a prerequisite test, namely the normality test using the Kolmogrov Smirnov test with a significance level of 5% (0.05) and continues with the homogeneity test using the Levene test. Next, test the hypothesis using the independent sample t test. Based on calculations for hypothesis testing at a significance level of 5%, t-count = 5.42, while t table = 1.57358. So t count > t table and the 2-tailed sig value is 0.00 < 0.05, so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. This means that the picture and picture learning model assisted by puzzle media is effective in improving the critical thinking skills of class IV students at SDN 32 Cakranegara.
