Abstract

The ability to think creatively is very important for learning activities in the classroom, however the ability to think creatively is still low. A learning model is needed that can accommodate the needs of implementing projects in learning and foster and train students' creative thinking abilities. The use of STEAM-based PjBL is an integrated learning approach to encourage students to be able to think more broadly about the problems around them. This research aims to find out whether the use of a STEAM-based learning model can significantly improve students' creative thinking abilities. This research uses a quasi-experimental research method with a control group design. The research subjects were 58 grade 5 elementary school students in Yogyakarta. Data collection uses test instruments. The research results were tested for hypotheses and analyzed using the independent sample t test to determine whether there were significant differences in posttest scores between the two research classes. Before carrying out the independent sample t test, the data obtained was tested for normality and homogeneity requirements. Based on the test results, it was found that the significance of the independent sample t test was 0.003. Based on the test results, it is known that the use of STEAM-based PjBL has a significant effect on students' creative thinking abilities.
