Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of learning using problem-based learning models, discovery learning models and student motivation on mathematics learning outcomes among students. This research uses quantitative research methods with a 2x2 factorial design. The research sample consisted of group IV grade IV elementary school students in Jatiasih sub-district, Bekasi City. The results of the research show that there is an influence on students' mathematics learning outcomes between those who use the problem-based learning model. There is an influence of the discovery learning model on student learning outcomes. There is an influence of motivation on student learning outcomes, and there is a joint influence between the PBL learning model, Discovery Learning and student motivation on student learning outcomes. The learning outcomes of students who use the problem-based learning model and have high motivation have higher scores than the learning outcomes of students who use the discovery learning model with students who have high motivation. The learning outcomes of students who use the problem-based learning model and have low motivation have higher scores than the learning outcomes of students who use the discovery learning model with students who have low motivation. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a different influence between the learning process using PBL and the discovery learning model on student learning outcomes in terms of student learning motivation, where the learning process using the PBL model is higher than the learning process using the discovery learning model. The implication of this research is that teachers must be able to choose strategies, approaches, and even media that are adapted to the needs of students and the school environment.
