Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using the SAS (Synthetic Structural Analytical) method with the help of flannel alphabets on the beginning reading skills of class II students of SDN Se-District of Sine. This research method is a quantitative study with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design model. Cluster random sampling is a technique used in sample collection. Based on the analysis of the results of the initial proficiency calculation (pretest) for class II SD N Girikerto 2 as the control group, it was obtained an average of 68.5. On the other hand, the average value of class II pretest at SDN Kauman 1 as the experimental group was 73.2. Furthermore, in the posttest measurement results for class II at SDN Girikerto 2 as the control group, an average of 75 was obtained. Meanwhile, the average posttest for class II at SDN Kauman 1 as the experimental group was 82. The results of the correlation analysis of the effect of the SAS method assisted by the flannel alphabet on reading skills beginning at Grade II elementary school students obtained a correlation value of rhitung of 0,500 with an rtable of 0,336. Thus the value of rhitung is greater than rtable, so the correlation value is very significant. Based on the results of the t-test, the results show that thitung = 2,538 and ttable = 1,677 at a significant level of 5%. It can be concluded that the SAS (SyntheticStructural Analytical Structural) research with the help of alphabet flannels has apositive effect on beginning reading skills in grade II students.
