ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN MELALUI SILENT READING MENGGUNAKAN TEKS CERITA FIKSI PADA SISWA KELAS IV SDN MINTOMULYO PATI

This study is motivated by the fact that almost all upper grade students show good reading skills, with only a few having difficulties. However, comprehension of the material read remains a challenge for some students. This problem is caused by a lack of motivation and reluctance to overcome lazy reading tendencies, which in turn has an impact on their reading comprehension skills. The purpose of this study is to 1) know and describe the reading comprehension skills through silent reading for fourth grade students of SDN Mintomulyo Pati. 2) to know and describe the factors inhibiting students' reading comprehension skills in understanding the content of the text read. This research is descriptive qualitative and focused on fourth grade students of SDN Mintomulyo. Data were collected from interviews, observations, documentation, and tests. The data sources in this study are the principal, grade IV teacher and grade IV students. Data collection was carried out by means of observation, interviews, documentation and tests. Ensuring the validity of the data in this study using source triangulation. The data analysis method follows the Miles and Huberman model which consists of three activities, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study showed that 1) the results of the reading comprehension ability test of fourth grade students of SDN Mintomulyo showed a slow improvement with an average score of 59 at the first meeting and increased to 79 at the second meeting. 2) Factors inhibiting reading comprehension skills obtained through interviews are circumstances, environmental factors, habits, motivation and interest.Downloads
