Abstract

This research is motivated by the growing perception that the sector education has failed in nurturing the younger generation, as can be seen from the increase incidents related to a decline in moral values. This condition occurs due to many reasons educational institutions that prioritize cognitive values and ignore values and ignore values moral. For this reason, the government must immediately take responsive action to ensure education national in accordance with Law. No. 20 of 2003, focuses on the application of values character as well as strengthening school culture, in order to achieve the aim of forming a generation with strong and competent character. This research carried out to find out how the implementation of religius character in building character values in students at SD Muhammadiyah 12 Surabaya. Researcher using a qualitative descriptive approach, with research subjects including students class IV, class teacher, and principal. The findings from this study show that implementation of a school culture that focuses on religious character at Muhammadiyah elementary school 12 Surabaya involes a series of routine activities that strengthen religious character, both in the classroom and within the school as a whole.
