Abstract

The RADEC learning model is recommended to improve students' critical thinking skills. This research aims to determine the influence of the RADEC learning model and interest in reading on critical thinking skills in integrative thematic learning of grade 5 students at SDN Gugus Teuku Umar Madang Suku II Oku Timur. The method used is Quasi-experimental with 2x2 factorial. The sample in the study consisted of 37 people from the experimental class and 39 people from the control class. The instrument used is a test instrument. The collected data was then analyzed using SPSS two-way ANOVA, then continued with the Tukey test. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that the RADEC learning model can improve students' critical thinking, Students who have a high interest in reading have higher critical thinking abilities, compared to the control class who have a high interest in reading. Likewise, there are differences in the critical thinking abilities of students who have a low interest in reading and students in the control class who have a low interest in reading. This research concludes that there is an influence of the RDEC learning model and interest in reading on critical thinking skills in students' integrative thematic learning in the classroom. This research implies that a teacher must be able to choose strategies, learning models, or media that are adapted to the needs of the concept of the material to be conveyed, the conditions of the students, and the conditions of the school environment.
