Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of water cycle materials through the Index Card Match learning method in grade V SDN Kuwonharjo. This type of research is classroom action research with four stages, namely 1) planning, 2) implementation, 3) observation, 4) reflection. The research was conducted in two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II, each cycle consisting of one meeting. The subjects in this study were class V students, totaling 18 students. Data Collection Techniques In this study, are tests and non-tests. Test techniques in the form of evaluation questions, non-test techniques in the form of observation sheets of teacher and student activities. The results showed that the implementation of the Index Card Match Learning Method can increase students' understanding of water cycle materials. The success of these actions is proven in the aspect of student learning completeness. In the results of the initial or precycle activity test obtained, student learning completeness is 22.77% or 5 students, and in cycle I, it increases to 61.11% or 11 students, in cycle II it is 88.88% or 16 students with an average student evaluation result in the precycle of 63.33 to 74.44 in the first cycle,  and increased to 85.56 in the second cycle. This has met the action success indicator, which is ≥85% of students in one class achieving the KKM set by the school.
