Abstract

In fact, because mathematics is abstract and requires understanding concepts, mathematics is a difficult subject for students to understand. The media and learning methods used are less interesting making students’ feelings of boredom appear, they will be distracted into things outside the subject matter so they do not focus in the classroom. Student learning outcomes are still low because students are less interested in mathematics subjects. The purpose of this study is to improve mathematics learning outcomes of space building element material in grade V students with Project Based Learning through Straw and Plasticine Model. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles. The subjects in this study were grade V students of SDN 2 Kunti totaling 12 students consisting of 7 female students and 5 male students. Data collection using test and observation methods. The results showed that there was an increase in class V mathematics learning outcomes based on the completeness of learning outcomes from pre-cycle, cycle I, cycle II by 25%, 58%, 83%. Student learning outcomes have exceeded the specified KKM (70.00) by 10 students with 83% completeness. Thus, the application of Project Based Learning through the Straw and Plasticine Model can improve student learning outcomes of building material for grade V students.
