Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of the humanistic approach in character education in elementary schools. The humanistic approach, which emphasizes respect for the individual and the development of self-potential, is considered an effective strategy for shaping students' character, not only intellectually competent but also morally sound. The method used is a literature review, analyzing relevant literature on character education, humanistic learning theories, and their application in elementary education. The results show that character education through a humanistic approach can create a supportive and safe learning environment, where students can develop social, moral, and personal skills in balance. Teachers play the role of facilitators, guiding students to make moral decisions and understand and internalize character values. In conclusion, the implementation of the humanistic approach in character education in elementary schools has the potential to shape individuals who are complete both intellectually and morally, and can contribute to the creation of a more moral and responsible society.
