Abstract

This research is motivated by the low ability of students to write exposition texts. This study aims to describe the improvement of students' exposition text writing skills using the concept sentence model in class V SDN 19 Santur Kota Sawahlunto. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, cycle I consists of 2 meetings, and cycle II consists of 1 meeting. Each cycle consists of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The subjects in this study were teachers and students of class V SDN 19 Santur Kota Sawahlunto totaling 29 people consisting of 12 males and 17 females. The results of the study showed an increase, in cycle I starting with the results of the analysis of the preparation of a) Cycle I teaching modules obtained an average of 85.41% (B) increasing in cycle II to 95.83% (A). b) The implementation of the teacher aspect in cycle I obtained an average of 83.33% (B) increasing in cycle II to 94.44% (SB). While the implementation of the student aspect in cycle I obtained an average of 83.33% (B) increasing in cycle II to 94.44% (SB). c) The assessment of students' exposition text writing skills in cycle I obtained an average of 73.18 (C) increasing in cycle II to 80.22 (B). It can be concluded that the concept sentence model can improve students' writing skills in class V SDN 19 Santur, Sawahlunto City.
