Abstract

This research is motivated by students' difficulties in reading comprehension due to monotonous teaching methods. The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the implementation of the LOK-R learning model on students' reading comprehension skills, (2) to describe the outcomes of students' reading comprehension skills, and (3) to determine whether the implementation of the LOK-R learning model affects students' reading comprehension skills. The approach used is quantitative with a Quasi-Experimental type Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study includes fourth-grade students from UPTD SDN 180 Pappandangan, with a sample of 24 students from class IVa and 22 students from class IVb. Data collection techniques included reading comprehension skill tests and documentation. Data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The descriptive analysis results showed that the implementation of the LOK-R learning model was very good. The inferential analysis results using an Independent Sample t-Test indicated that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that: (1) the learning process using the LOK-R model was conducted very well, (2) students' test results showed an improvement in reading comprehension skills, and (3) the implementation of the LOK-R learning model had an effect on students' reading comprehension skills.
