Abstract

Learning is a fundamental activity for human development and serves as the primary means to expand knowledge, develop skills, and understand the world around us. Many obstacles occur during the learning process, such as in-classroom activities, for example, lack of motivation, insufficient resources, and minimal support facilities. This results in low student learning outcomes. This study aims to present the results of an analysis focusing on improving student learning outcomes through the group discussion method in sixth-grade students. This type of research is Classroom Action Research conducted in two cycles. The research subjects involved 36 sixth-grade students. Data were collected using test methods and then analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis methods. The initial observation results showed that the average student learning outcomes score was 57.6, with a classical integrity level of 58.3%. After the first cycle of research, the average student learning outcomes score increased to 60, with a classical level of 69,4%, indicating an increase of 2,4 points from the previous cycle. In the second cycle, the average student learning outcomes score increased to 66,7 representing an increase of 6,7 points from the previous cycle. This indicates that the integrity level of learning has reached 100%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the group discussion method has the potential to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of sixth-grade students. The significance of this research is expected to enhance student learning outcomes in the learning process.
