Abstract

Teaching and learning activities are a process of transferring knowledge in the form of student learning outcomes. The learning process problems often occur nowadays and become important issues to figure out. There are several problems come up, especially at the secondary school level, among English teachers in Banten Province, namely a lack of mastery of the material provided and learning methods are less interesting. Apart from that, mastery of technology as a learning media is often forgotten and not used. Inadequate mastery of technology in learning process becomes a reason so that students tend to be inactive and get less than optimal results. One effort to overcome that problems occur for teachers is by participating in a sustainable professional development program as a forum for self-development in increasing teacher competence. This aims to help English teachers at Islamic state junior schools in Banten province improve their competence. Apart from gaining knowledge regarding learning strategies, teachers are also given knowledge about the use of technology that is appropriate to the learning material. This research is a qualitative descriptive. This study is using instruments questionnaire, document study and observation. The results of the research show an increase in teacher competence in the learning process, as seen from an increase in participant 67,6% and the quality of training shows 67,6% gives a good impact for enhancing teacher’s competence.
