Abstract

This research is motivated by the low critical thinking skills of students in social studies learning in class V UPT SD Negeri 018 Langgini. One solution to overcome this problem is to use the Guided Inquiry model. This study aims to improve the critical thinking skills of class V UPT SD Negeri 018 Langgini for the 2022/2023 academic year. This research method is classroom action research (CAR) which is carried out in two learning cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings and four learning stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The time of the research was carried out in May 2023. The subjects of this study were 14 class V students, with 8 male students and 6 female students. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of documentation, observation and tests. The results of the critical thinking skills of class V UPT SD Negeri 018 Langgini in the pre-action average value of 50 with a learning completeness percentage of 29%. In the first cycle of the first meeting the average value was 53 with a learning mastery percentage of 43%. In the first cycle, the second meeting experienced an increase with an average score of 69 with a learning completeness percentage of 57%. In cycle II, meetings II also increased with an average score of 77 with a percentage of learning completeness of 79% and in cycle II, meetings experienced another increase with an average score of 84 with a percentage of learning completeness of 93%. Thus it can be concluded that using the Guided Inquiry learning model can improve the critical thinking skills of class V UPT SD Negeri 018 Langgini.
