PERAN TOKOH MASYARAKAT DALAM MEMBANGUN SIKAP TOLERANSI ANTAR UMAT BERAGAMA (STUDI DI DESA TEGAL MAJA KECAMATAN TANJUNG KABUPATEN LOMBOK UTARA)

Abstract

Building tolerance in diversity, including religious diversity, is certainly not an easy thing. Diversity is often the cause of conflict, because tolerance is not developed. However, there are areas that still uphold the value of tolerance in religious diversity, including Tegal Maja Village. The realization of tolerance certainly cannot be separated from the role of community leaders in the village. Therefore, it is very important to carry out this research with the aim of knowing the role of community leaders in building attitudes of tolerance between religious communities (in Tegal Maja Village, Tanjung District, North Lombok Regency). This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses qualitative data analysis techniques with the steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results show that (1) The role of community leaders in building attitudes of tolerance between religious communities in Tegal Maja Village is as facilitators, mediators and communicators. (2) Factors that influence the role of community leaders in building attitudes of tolerance between religious communities in Tegal Maja Village, namely supporting factors include cultural factors and inter-religious marriage factors. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors are the absence of official regulations regarding inter-religious marriages and technological developments.
