Abstract

This research is motivated by the role of PPKn teachers in developing the character of discipline and honesty in class V of SMPN 4 Janapria, where teachers have a strategic role in forming knowledge, skills and character of discipline, honesty in students. To create human resources who have skills, knowledge and character, students need a disciplined attitude. Pancasila education subjects as character-based subjects are a smart solution for instilling character values ​​in students. Discipline is a feeling of obedience and adherence to trusted values, including carrying out certain work that is one's responsibility, while honesty is a behavior that is based on efforts to make oneself a person who can always be trusted in one's words, actions and work, both towards oneself and himself. other parties. The purpose of this research is to find out and explain the role of Civics Teachers in developing the character of Discipline and Honesty in students and to find out or explain the supporting and inhibiting factors of Civics Teachers in developing the character of discipline and honesty in class Vlll students at SMPN 4 Janapria. The method used in this research is qualitative with a case study type of research. Subjects are PPKn teachers and research informants, namely school principals, guidance and counseling teachers and students. Data collection techniques in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research can be concluded that at SMPN 4 Janapria the role of teachers in developing the character of discipline and honesty has been running well, namely teachers as role models, instructors, coaches, mentors and listeners.
