Abstract

During primary school, mathematical knowledge and skills become an important basis for learners in everyday life. However, many students consider math as a difficult and uninteresting subject. In this case, teachers need to design learning to be more interesting and can increase interest in learning mathematics, one of which is by applying learning media. Media is needed so that teachers and students can achieve predetermined learning objectives. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to improve the learning outcomes of addition using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by balitung art media (counting spiders). The research method used was classroom action research with a quantitative approach. The research was conducted in 2 cycles, with each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Tests were used as a means of measuring learning outcomes, and observation and documentation were carried out during the study. The results showed a significant increase in learning outcomes after the application of the PBL model assisted by Balitung Art media. Learners showed higher enthusiasm and engagement during learning. The test results showed an increase in the average score from 78.47 in the pretest to 86.71 in the posttest. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model assisted by Balitung Art media is effective in improving students' addition learning outcomes.
