Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model on student retention in grade IV science subjects at SDN 28 Cakranegara. This study uses a quasi-experimental design method with the type of Pre-Test Post-Test Control Group Design. The subjects in this study were all fourth grade students at SDN 28 Cakranegara, where class IVA was the experimental class with 20 students while class IVB was the control class with 20 students. The data collection technique used in this study was Test and Observation. The research instruments used were multiple-choice test sheets (Pre-test and Post-test) and observation sheets on the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning learning models. Data analysis technique begins with a prerequisite test, namely the normality test with the Kolmogrov Smirnov test with a significance level of 5% (0.05) and is continued with a homogeneity test using the Levene test. Next is to test the hypothesis by using the independent sample t test. Based on the calculation of hypothesis testing at a significance level of 5% obtained t-count = 2.598 while t table = 1.686 so that t count ≥ t table and obtained a sig 2 tailed value of 0.013 <0.05 then the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) rejected. This means that there is an influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning learning model on the retention of students in grade IV science subjects at SDN 28 Cakranegara.
