Abstract

Shalat Congregational prayer serves as a fundamental act of worship, playing a pivotal role in shaping students' morality and enhancing academic achievement. At SMP Negeri 17 Bandar Lampung, the implementation of congregational prayer faces challenges such as low student participation and insufficient optimization by the school. This study aims to examine the influence of discipline in congregational prayer on students’ morality and academic achievement. The proposed hypotheses are: 1) Discipline in congregational prayer influences morality; 2) Discipline in congregational prayer influences academic achievement; and 3) Morality influences academic achievement.This study employs a quantitative approach with a survey design and simple linear regression analysis to examine the relationships between the variables of Discipline in Congregational Prayer (X), Morality (Y1), and Academic Achievement (Y2). The research sample consists of 90 students from SMPN 17 Bandar Lampung, selected using a random sampling technique. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, validated and tested for reliability prior to use. The findings reveal that discipline in congregational prayer significantly influences students’ morality by 4.8% (R Square = 0.048, p-value = 0.00 < 0.05) and academic achievement by 4.4% (R Square = 0.044, p-value = 0.047 < 0.05), albeit with relatively small contributions. Conversely, morality has a more substantial impact on academic achievement, accounting for 27.2% (R Square = 0.272, p-value = 0.00 < 0.05). These results underscore the importance of discipline in congregational prayer and fostering good morality as supportive factors for students' academic success, while highlighting the need to explore additional factors that comprehensively influence learning outcomes.
