This research aims to: 1) Find out the description of the use of the mother tongue when learning Indonesian among class II students at SDN 22 Singkawang, 2) Find out the obstacles faced by teachers in minimizing the use of the mother tongue in learning Indonesian among class II students at SDN 22 Singkawang , 3) Knowing the teacher's efforts to minimize the use of the mother tongue in Indonesian language learning for class II students at SDN 22 Singkawang. The type of research used is qualitative research with a case study research design. The subjects of this research were 9 class II students, class II teachers, and the school principal. The data collection technique in this research is in-depth interviews. The data analysis technique uses the analysis technique by Miles and Huberman which consists of the following data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that: 1) Class II students are still lacking in minimizing the use of their mother tongue in Indonesian language learning. 2) There are obstacles in minimizing the use of the mother tongue in learning Indonesian caused by playmates. 3) The teacher's efforts to minimize the use of the mother tongue in Indonesian language lessons, such as getting students used to reading storybooks or books on the subject they will study for 15 minut Minimizing, Use of Mother Tongue, Learning IndonesianesDownloads
