Abstract

This research aims to determine the strategy and impact of schools in implementing the policy of eliminating science, social studies and language majors in class X in the Kurikulum Merdeka. The research method uses qualitative descriptiveness with a case study approach at SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta as the research subject. The object of this research is the school mechanism in implementing the policy of eliminating high school majors in the Kurikulum Merdeka. Data collection was carried out using observation, interviews and documentation techniques, then the research results were compiled and analyzed using Paulo Freire's theory of educational dehumanization. The results of the research show that the strategy for implementing the majors policy is for schools to provide training to all elements of education and provide socialization regarding the flow of majors and major selection for students.  In its implementation, the policy of eliminating majors has had a negative impact in the form of dehumanization of education, namely the inability of students to develop their potential and interests due to insufficient educational resources, majors that do not match their abilities, and majors that are still the same as the previous Kurikulum 2013 policy, namely that they are still fixed in science and social studies.
