Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning models on statistics material on the statistical reasoning abilities and habits of mind of students at SMPN 1 Wanasaba. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students at SMPN 1 Wanasaba, totaling 225 students. The sample included class VII B as the control group with 30 students and class VII C as the experimental group with 30 students. Data collection instruments included a test of statistical reasoning abilities and a habits of mind questionnaire. The data on students' statistical reasoning abilities and habits of mind were normally distributed, and their variances were homogeneous. The t-test results indicated that there was a difference in the average statistical reasoning abilities and habits of mind between the experimental and control groups, with the experimental group showing superior average statistical reasoning abilities and habits of mind compared to the control group. In conclusion, the problem-based learning model on statistics material has a partial effect on the statistical reasoning abilities and habits of mind of students at SMPN 1 Wanasaba.
