Abstract

This research aims to discuss the role of Muhammadiyah in strengthening the teaching profession and strengthening Islamic religious education. This research was prepared using a literature study approach by collecting various relevant and comprehensive sources of information. The results of the review of various sources of information show that Muhammadiyah has contributed to the development of strengthening the quality of the teaching profession and supporting Islamic religious education. In strengthening the teaching profession, Muhammadiyah conducts, candidate selection, strategic steps to foster candidates and improve quality governance. Then in the aspect of strengthening in Islamic education, Muhammadiyah strengthens the personality competence of teachers, so a personality development program that is oriented towards obedience to religious norms is carried out in the hope that Muhammadiyah plays a direct role in developing the competence of Islamic religious education in the hope that these efforts can form the competence of teachers and Muhammadiyah cadres.   Keywords: muhammadiyah, teacher profession, religious education
