This research investigates the effectiveness of the Cooperative Learning Model, specifically the Think Pair Share (TPS) type, aided by Big Book media, in enhancing the maharah qira’ah (reading skills) of third-grade students at MI Masyariqul Anwar IV, Sukabumi. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection, this study aims to address the challenges faced by students in reading Arabic. The research population comprised 25 third-grade students, demonstrating varied proficiency levels in reading. The implementation of the TPS model alongside Big Book media was hypothesized to foster an engaging and interactive learning environment, thereby improving students’ reading comprehension and fluency. The findings revealed significant improvements in students' reading mastery. From an initial mastery of 32% at the baseline, student competence increased to 64% after the first cycle and reached 92% by the end of the second cycle. Observational data corroborated these results, showing enhanced student engagement and interaction during learning activities. This study concludes that the TPS model, supported by visually stimulating Big Book media, substantially benefits reading instruction by promoting better engagement, understanding, and fluity in reading Arabic among elementary school students. These insights underscore the potential of integrating cooperative learning strategies and enriching media into the language learning curriculum, suggesting a viable pathway for educational practitioners aiming to enhance early language acquisition.Downloads
