Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to explore the implementation of gender segregation as a learner management service to foster independent character based on pesantren. This research is a field investigation with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document research on student grouping as part of learner management in fostering independent character. This research was conducted at Assirojiyah High School. The researcher chose this location because it was previously part of Assirojiyah High School and it was easy to obtain research data. Data sources consist of primary information obtained from the principal, vice principal for student affairs, teachers, and student representatives. Meanwhile, secondary data were in the form of photos, images, and other documents that support the research, including national and international scientific journals. Data analysis consisted of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the research on gender segregation at Assirojiyah High School adopt a full model, while fostering independent character is carried out by internalizing the values of independence, such as doing their own assignments, praying without being ordered, mujara'ah, throwing garbage in its place, and helping others without expecting rewards.
