Abstract

Efforts to improve the ability to read fluently focus on innovation in the learning process that is interesting and easily accepted by students. Teaching methods and learning media play an important role in the success of the learning process. Learning Indonesian using fluent reading material, the method used must be able to make it easier for students to understand the material better. The media used in learning really supports understanding of the material, especially reading. The fluent reading method uses a reading method without spelling so that students understand the reading more quickly, while the media used is picture cards to make it easier for students to understand the writing they read. Students' success in reading fluently greatly influences their success in understanding material in other lessons because the key to success in increasing achievement is reading. This research uses a qualitative research approach. Based on data analysis from research results, student learning achievement has increased, the class average from 77.4 to 85.5. Improvements in learning by using the reading method without spelling with picture card media prove that there is an increase in student learning achievement.
