Abstract

This study aims to find out: 1) improving students' listening skills in classes that use Pop Up Book media with classes that use conventional learning; 2) student response to the Pop Up Book media for grade V students of SDN 13 Singkawang; 3) differences in classes that use conventional learning in grade V students of SDN 13 Singkawang. In this study using a quantitative experimental approach with quasi- experimental methods in the form of nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study was all grade V students at SDN 13 Singkawang consisting of 2 classes totaling 48 students, while the samples in this study were VB class and VA class. Data collection techniques use test and non-test techniques, test and non- test questions used in the form of student response questionnaires. The data analysis technique uses N-Gain and the percentage of student response questionnaires. The results showed that: 1) there is an increase in students' listening skills before and after using Pop Up Book media on the main idea material with an average N-Gain result of 0.74 with a percentage of 74% and high criteria; 2) student response to Pop Up Book media has a good category with a percentage result of 71%. This shows that student responses are positive to the Pop Up Book media applied in the main idea material; 3) there are differences in students' listening skills between experimental classes and control classes analyzed using tests, namely tcount > ttable or 8.0441 > 2.011, then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that research by applying Pop Up Book media can improve students' listening skills in grade V at SDN 13 Singkawang. Keywords: Pop Up Book, Listening Skills , SDN 13 Singkawang
