Abstract

Every student has their own diversity so they have different learning needs. Teachers need to accommodate students' learning needs so that learning can run effectively. Differentiated learning is a strategic tool that can be chosen to accommodate students' learning needs. This research aims to determine the analysis of the application of differentiated learning in science and science subjects in elementary schools. The method used in this research is qualitative using a case study approach. Data analysis was carried out using triangulation, namely combining data from observations, interviews and documentation. The research was conducted in class V of Sidomukti State Elementary School. The results of the research show that the differentiated learning carried out by the teacher was successful and ran effectively. Teachers make initial preparations by carrying out diagnostik tests and then developing appropriate learning strategies based on mapping student needs. Product differentiation is carried out by teachers based on students' learning interests. Teachers and students get a positive impact from implementing differentiated learning. Teachers feel that students' learning needs are met, which is reflected in students' positive responses to the learning. However, there is an obstacle, namely students' understanding that learning must be the same for each student. Teachers try to overcome these obstacles by providing an understanding that differentiated learning is not meant to differentiate, but is an effort to meet the needs of all students.
