Abstract

Students will retain more information if they are actively engaged in the learning process. Students have not been actively engaged in their own learning, as seen by the observation data, leading to subpar mathematical achievement. The purpose of this research is to enhance sixth-grade students' mathematical knowledge using Realistic Mathematics Learning at SD Negeri Brosot in Kapanewon Galur, Kulon Progo Regency. This study was a joint effort between researchers and instructors in the classroom. This research follows a two-cycled design based on a modified version of the Kemmis and McTaggart model that includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. A total of 28 sixth graders participated in the study. The outcomes of RML-based mathematics education are the focus of this study. Both experiments and observations may be used as data collecting methods. Both quantitative and qualitative descriptive methods of data analysis were used. The research found that teaching the content for integer arithmetic through Realistic Mathematics Learning improved students' understanding of the subject. Prior to the intervention, only 54% of students had attained KKM; after the intervention, that number increased to 71% in cycle I and 93% in cycle II for mathematics.  Keywords:  Mathematics Learning  Outcomes,  Realistic Mathematics  Learning
