Author Guidelines

TransBORDERS: International Relations Journal

GENERAL INFORMATION

TransBORDERS: International Relations Journal is a peer-reviewed, biannual journal published every June and December by the Laboratory of International Relations, Department of International Relations, Universitas Pasundan, Bandung, Indonesia. The journal provides a scholarly platform for critical perspectives in International Relations, especially concerning Southeast Asia and Indonesia’s global engagements.

Submissions must align with the journal’s scope and reflect original, unpublished work. We accept manuscripts in Bahasa Indonesia or English.

ARTICLE STRUCTURE

Manuscripts should be organized using the IMRAD format and include the following elements:

  • Title
  • Author(s) name, affiliation (department, faculty, university/institution, country), and corresponding email
  • Abstract (Bahasa and English)
  • Keywords (3–5 terms)
  • Introduction
  • Analysis/Theoretical Framework
  • Research Method
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References

FORMAT AND LENGTH

  • Use Microsoft Word, Times New Roman, font size 12 pt, justified, and 1.5 line spacing.
  • The layout is two columns, A4 paper, with margins: Left 3.5 cm, Right/Top/Bottom 3 cm.
  • Manuscripts must be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references.

TITLE AND AUTHOR IDENTITY

  • Title: Maximum 14 words (Bahasa) or 10 words (English), ALL CAPS, bold, 14 pt, centered.
  • Author(s): Full name (11 pt), affiliation (10 pt), email address (10 pt, institutional preferred).

ABSTRACT

  • Must be written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Use Times New Roman 11 pt, single-spaced, italic for the translated version.
  • Include key elements: objective, theory, methods, findings, and conclusion.
  • Length: 100–150 words.

KEYWORDS

  • List 3 to 5 keywords, arranged alphabetically, separated by semicolons (;), in Times New Roman 11 pt, italic, lowercase.

SECTION HEADINGS

Use the following formats:

  • INTRODUCTION (12 pt, Bold, ALL CAPS, left-aligned)
    Presents background, theoretical gaps, research questions, and objectives.
  • ANALYSIS FRAMEWORK
    Describe the theoretical/conceptual lens (e.g., Realism, Constructivism).
  • RESEARCH METHOD
    Detail methodology, including data sources, techniques, and analysis.
  • RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
    Present findings with in-depth analysis and reference support.
  • CONCLUSION
    State the main insights, implications, limitations, and suggestions.

SUBSECTIONS, FIGURES, AND TABLES

  • Subsection Titles: Capitalize Each Word, 12 pt, Italic, left-aligned.
  • Figures/Tables: Number consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).
    • Table title above the table (12 pt, Bold)
    • Figure caption below the figure (10 pt)
    • Include source under each.

CITATIONS AND REFERENCES

  • Use APA Style 6th Edition.
  • Employ reference managers like Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.
  • In-text citation examples:
    • One author

      • (Smith, 2015, p. 22)

    • Multiple authors

      •  (Lee et al., 2020, p. 45)

    • Page ranges

      •  (Taylor, 2011, pp. 78–85)

    • Entire work (tanpa halaman tertentu)

      •  (Waltz, 1979)

PLAGIARISM POLICY

  • Manuscripts must be original and free of plagiarism.
  • Authors must conduct a self-check before submission.
  • The similarity index must not exceed 20%.
