Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model through a mathematical domino game on students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The research sample consisted of 60 seventh-grade students at State Junior High School 1 Kadugede in the 2025/2026 academic year selected through purposive sampling. The sample was divided into two groups, namely 30 students in the experimental class who received learning using the TPS model through a mathematical domino game and 30 students in the control class who received conventional learning. The research instruments used were a mathematical problem-solving ability test and a student response questionnaire. Data analysis techniques were carried out through prerequisite tests, namely normality and homogeneity tests, then continued with the Mann-Whitney U test, and the N-Gain test to measure the increase in students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The results showed that there were differences in mathematical problem-solving abilities and significant increases in mathematical problem-solving abilities between the experimental and control classes. Furthermore, students responded positively to the implementation of the TPS model through a mathematical domino game. The findings of this study indicate that the implementation of the TPS cooperative learning model through a mathematical domino game is effective in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities.
