Abstract

This research was conducted because of the problems of students who experienced difficulties in learning mathematics in flat shape material. The difficulty experienced at IV B grade class students at SD Negeri 189 Palembang was because students considered mathematics to be difficult, and had to memorize a lot of formulas, especially the material for squares, rectangles and triangles. So, this study aims to find out what are the difficulties experienced at IV B grade Class students. Data collection techniques used by researchers in this study were observation, documentation, and interviews. The data obtained were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive research methods. The results of this study indicate that the level of students' understanding of mathematics subjects on square, rectangular and triangular shapes is included in the low category. This can be proven from the results of student learning carried out on student learning difficulties in working on flat shape material questions, there is 1 (one) student in the high category (4%), 1 (one) student in the medium category (4%) and 23 (twenty three) students in the low category (92%) with a total of 25 (twenty five) students.
