Abstract

Dyslexia is a disorder in the development of reading skills, which causes difficulty in processing written symbols. The problem in this study is the beginning reading ability of dyslexic children. The research was conducted at SDN Mruwak 01 with the research subjects being dyslexic students in grades 2, 3 and 4 consisting of 9 male students, 5 female students. The purpose of this research is to increase the motivation and ability of dyslexic children's beginning reading. The method used in the study was quasi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test approach to measure changes in reading motivation and beginning reading ability of dyslexic students before and after the use of scrabble games. The results of data analysis showed a significant improvement in beginning reading skills, especially in the aspects of letter recognition, basic vocabulary, and ability to distinguish sounds. Post-test scores showed an average increase of 25% compared to pre-test scores, indicating that the Scrabble game can be an effective tool in helping dyslexic children overcome barriers to beginning reading.
