Abstract

SEL is an educational approach focused on developing social skills, empathy, and emotional management, while local wisdom incorporates cultural values such as mutual cooperation and respect. This study aims to examine the implementation of integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) theory with local wisdom values as a preventive effort against bullying behavior in elementary schools. This research utilizes a qualitative method with a case study approach at SDN 03 Dayu. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, which were thematically analyzed. The findings indicate that integrating SEL with local wisdom values has a positive impact on students' behavior, enhancing emotional control, empathy, and conflict resolution skills without violence. This program also fosters a supportive school environment where students feel valued and become more attuned to others’ feelings. Challenges encountered include limited curriculum time and diverse cultural backgrounds among students, which were addressed through inclusive approaches and learning materials relevant to the local context. In conclusion, integrating SEL theory with local wisdom is effective in fostering positive character and reducing bullying behavior. Full support from school leadership and specialized teacher training play crucial roles in the program's success.
