Abstract

This research analyses the holistic approach in religious education by comparing the Education Unit Level Curriculum (KTSP) and the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools. The holistic approach aims to develop students comprehensively, encompassing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. KTSP, implemented since 2006, uses conventional methods such as lectures and memorization, which focus more on cognitive aspects. In contrast, the Merdeka Curriculum, launched in 2022, emphasizes interactive and contextual learning, including project-based learning and authentic assessment, to develop students' character and social skills. The analysis results show that religious education in KTSP has advantages in organized learning structure and consistency of standards but lacks interactivity and contextuality. The Merdeka Curriculum, with its holistic approach, is more relevant to students' daily lives and more effective in developing various aspects of students' growth, though it faces challenges such as teacher readiness and limited facilities. In conclusion, the holistic approach of the Merdeka Curriculum is superior in supporting the comprehensive development of students compared to KTSP, but it requires additional support to overcome implementation barriers.
