Abstract

Literature learning in elementary schools is still not optimal. One of the efforts that can be made is to map out the literary materials. The purpose of this research is to map out the literary materials in Indonesian language textbooks based on their genres and subgenres. This study uses a qualitative method with a content analysis approach. The data in this study are the types of literary texts in the Indonesian language textbook "Kurikulum Merdeka" published by the Center for Book Publishing of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Data analysis techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study explain that the mapping of literary genres in the Indonesian language textbook for grades I-VI of "Kurikulum Merdeka" includes two genres, namely narrative and non-narrative. The types of texts that fall under the subgenre narrative are fables, folktales, realistic fiction, fantasy fiction, children's short stories, and children's novels. The texts that fall under the non-narrative subgenre are poems, rhymes, and couplets. Literary texts in the lower grades are more focused on listening and reading skills, while in the upper grades, the focus is on reading and writing skills.
