Abstract

Citing references from bibliographic sources holds a pivotal role in establishing the knowledge base and upholding the continuity of academic discussions. Referencing, apart from indicating the honesty and precision of a written work, also acts as an initial step for further investigation and intellectual growth. Acknowledging the significance of citing sources lies in recognizing the input of other authors in molding and advancing profound concepts. The primary objective of this study is to comprehend the essence, varieties, techniques, guidelines, and appropriate citation formats in writing. The conducted research is based on a literature review method. The findings and discussions of this study encompass an examination of the utilization, guidelines, and styles employed in citations. The concluding remarks underscore the significance of referencing bibliographic sources, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging information sources, fortifying arguments, and ensuring the academic and scholarly credibility of the generated work.
