This research aims to test the effectiveness of picture-assisted storytelling strategies in improving students' speaking skills in grade 4. The problem in this research is that students often experience difficulties in conveying their thoughts and ideas effectively, and this can become an obstacle in their learning process. The recommended solution is the implementation of an image-assisted storytelling strategy. The method in this research uses an experimental method in the form of a pre-experimental design, one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this research consisted of 31 students. The instruments in this research are oral tests and speaking skills assessment rubrics. The research results show that based on the average qualification of the final test (posttest) using the t test, a value of sig = 0.000 is obtained, which means it is smaller than α 0.05. Thus, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So, the speaking skills of grade 4 students at SDN Batukali before and after being given treatment using the picture-assisted storytelling strategy were declared acceptable. Recommendations from this research can contribute to learning Indonesian speaking skills by using alternative strategies in the form of picture-assisted storytelling.Downloads
